Three Angels Messages - Prophetic Gift in Latter Days

Three Angels Messages and Spirit of Prophecy

It would be logical to expect a church claiming to be the remnant church to have someone who has had the gift of prophecy. See Joel 2:28-31.

Revelation 12:17 "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy".

Deuteronomy 18:22 "When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

Matthew 7:20 "By their fruits ye shall know them."

Isaiah 8:20 "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

Given these texts, has there been anyone in the last 150 years who would pass the tests of a true prophet? The answer is yes! If a church claims to be the remnant church, it is logical to expect the gift of prophecy to be manifested in that church. The church is careful to emphasize that the prophet does not take the place of Scripture. As stated in Seventh-day Adventists Believe, “The writings of Ellen White are not a substitute for Scripture. They cannot be placed on the same level. The Holy Scriptures stand alone, the unique standard by which her and all other writings must be judged and to which they must be subject” (Seventh-day Adventists Believe , Ministerial Association, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Washington D.C., 1988, p. 227).

In brief, she was a woman of remarkable spiritual gifts who lived most of her life during the nineteenth century (1827-1915), yet through her writings she is still making a revolutionary impact on millions of people around the world. During her lifetime she wrote more than 5,000 periodical articles and 40 books; but today, including compilations from her 50,000 pages of manuscript, more than 100 titles are available in English. She is the most translated woman writer in the entire history of literature, and the most translated American author of either gender. (Quoted from http://www.whiteestate.org/about/egwbio.asp#who)
